Telecommunications Features

This feature allows the hospital to send the EBC data to the Department of Health directly over phone lines. This eliminates handling diskettes and the waiting time for diskettes to arrive.

Because the data transfer is done automatically, the process is much more efficient for both the hospital and the state Department of Health. The data transfer can be validated and a retry initiated without operator intervention. Operator time is saved because diskettes don't need to be handled. The possibility of lost diskettes is eliminated.

The only additional hardware required is a Hayes compatible modem and a phone line.

Central Server Electronic File Number

This is a powerful product that increases the efficiency of the process and saves significant time and errors. The Central Server Electronic File Number product allows for the assignment of state file numbers to the birth certificate before it has been printed. This eliminates the waiting period and work flow interruption where paperwork lays idle waiting for a state file number.

Using a modem link over telephone lines, each hospital communicates directly with the state's Department of Health. After the birth record has been keyed, a consecutive state file number is assigned and then the birth certificate is printed with a file number. It is a significant advancement over diskette and paperwork transfer.
