Technical Writer/ Trainer

Genesis Systems, Inc. is seeking a Technical Writer/Trainer to develop various software documentation requirements including, but not limited to user guides, software training courses and materials for a diverse group of clients and environments. Since 1984, Genesis Systems, Inc. has been a leading provider of vital records processing solutions that encompass all events related to vital records and vital statistics. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our growing team of technical writing and training professionals. This position will be based in Lewistown , PA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Structure and write new technical documentation to document software applications.
  • Review, update and edit existing documentation for structural consistency, technical accuracy, clarity, grammar and spelling to ensure that documentation meets company standards.
  • Help to standardize the technical documentation.
  • Provide software training to customers both on-site and at regional locations.
  • Ongoing development of software product training courses and materials.

REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate must be able to quickly learn custom software applications, analyze work flows and processes and translate the acquired knowledge into procedural documentation and training aids appropriate for a wide audience of technical and non-technical users. The individual must be a quality oriented, well-organized, self-starter with strong technical writing skills and the ability to work well with others in meeting deadlines. The individual must also have a demonstrated history of instructor-led software training experience in a wide variety of environments. The ability to effectively communicate with clients is highly critical. The high-profile nature of the position demands exceptional interpersonal skills and professionalism. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated and self-directed with demonstrated experience in managing multiple concurrent projects and possess the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision, while maintaining a strong sense of team collaboration.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Outstanding technical writing, structuring, editing and proof-reading skills.
  • Superior communication (oral and written), organization, and administrative skills.
  • Strong ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently when required.
  • Highly proficient in the use and support of the following products: MSOffice products (particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint and Visio), Adobe Acrobat Reader and Distiller.
  • Working knowledge and experience in developing on-line help for web applications using RoboHelp, is a plus.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand complex analytical software and concepts.Knowledge of facilitation techniques and experience delivering classroom training with strong presentation skills.
  • Desire to travel extensively and work in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.A. / B.S. in English, Education, Technical Writing or other related field, or equivalent professional writing and training experience.
  • Experience as a trainer for a software development group is highly desired.
